Selfpublished Photobooks

I've recently come across a couple of websites which give people the ability to create/publish their own photobooks.

www.lulu.com and www.blurb.com

I reckon it would be great to convert the many images and stories I have of India into a hardback book for posterity. Also make great presents for the family.

Anyone here used either of the 2 websites to create any books (or any alternatives)?

Photobox is just a spiral bound version though. Better to get that professional look.

I'm mentally going through my India photos now working out which ones may make it into a book.

If beach converted his Hampi post into a book, then I could see myself buying it. With either Lulu or Blurb the website gives a chance for other people to buy it (the author gets some of the profits), and on lulu I believe you can pay to have a proper ISBN numbe which means it will be listed on all the professional channels, eg Amazon.

I haven't used Lulu myself, but I have seen many people in blogosphere use it for printing novels, short stories and photobooks. They are mostly pleased with it, and from the closeup photos of the photobooks printed by lulu, they look very very good. The process seems easy enough. I've signed up to give it a spin... very simple. Seems to be the market leader in this business.

Let us know when you get the finished product. I'm curious to know how it is.
