PICTURE? Declare your group photo

When in India at historical sites Indian tourists want to have their picture taken with the foreigner. Personally I loved it. The maddness, the absurdity, the chaos, the potental for anarchy, as everyone crowds to have "picture" taken with the odd looking foreigner. So I thought it would be fun to start a thread of these photo ops.

Here is my contribution. At Jhansi fort a family wanted "picture". As we posed people from all directions rushed to get into the shot. The 3 or 4 kids in the front came running and screaming jumping dangerously under and over fences to reach the "picture" site. Everyone smiled and laughed and "picture" was taken. Then everyone dispersed. No one wanted the actual "picture" but were satisfied with just having "picture" taken.
That is me (having my usual bad hair day) at far right..

byronic...

They are doing this more for the fun of event than to get a copy of the photo themselves. "picture taking" is an important 'ceremony' in marriages also. 'Important' people are invited from the guests to take "picture" with the bride&groom. This somehow has gone into the cultural blood of people. They jumb when someone is about to take a photo. No one wants to be left out!!!
Posing with a foreign tourist is an extra fun. It's a novelty. You can see them struggle to get at the front.Almost in all cases the kids win as they have a height advantage.
Mostly they are villagers on a 'backpack' to tourist places.

Great thread idea byronic!

I have a few of these types of picture - they will be so funny all in the same thread. Mine are in a box in storage at the moment so I don't have one to post yet ... but I will enjoy looking at other peoples!

This is one of my favourite group pics (please excuse the quality as it's scanned from a print). There have been a few times when the photo sessions get a bit out of hand ~ in Haridwar we were in what seemed like an endless line-up, until we finally ducked away to avoid being be rude. Usually, however, the introductions, requests, poses, and resulting photos are top-notch moments.

Photo: my friend Jessica (left) and me (right) with the Indian Army (!) at Mehrengarh Fort, Jodhpur ~ very polite (and very charming) men.

the Dolpur Culture Club

on a tip from the Baburnama, we hunted around Dolpur until we found the ruins of the fort. Couldn't have been friendlier!

obligatory

I doesn't matter how many times I show up in my partner's village, it's "all hands on deck"! Anybody who's not out in the fields anyway.

Begum BiJ with Salman Khan wannabees in Delhi. Teen boys in all the cities were sporting the famous Salman Khan haircut from his latest hit bollywood film "Tere Naam". Critics and fashionistas said the hair-cut looked dumb, but that hasn't stopped all the kids from wearing their hair like their favorite hero Salman.

Picture of Salman's fancy hair from "Tere Naam".

A group of two.....

The "other half" of Edsita....my husband Ed with our buddy Kurupu at The Elite Hotel in Fort Cochin.
Likely if you have eaten @ the hotel restaurant or stayed there, you'll remember Kurupa, a very fun guy!

I remember Kurupa from some years ago - always playing little jokes on the customers. Good to see he's still going strong!

Smile My Taj group

These girls were asked by an italian foreigner for a pic. Suddenly they were asked by several tourists among myself. They were very nice and enjoyed the moment. They didn't ask for tips.
