Hi Alok. Try and not post duplicates. Be patient and someone will respond.

Mods: Can you please merge these two posts?

Alok, so, I understand so far that you've sold your Nikon-F80, and you want to upgrade to a DSLR? Right?

I have a Canon EOS Rebel XS, with a few lenses. What do you want to know? Obviously, I'm now commited to the Canon way of life.

If you do not have an eye for what details to look out for then you are better of buying new. Having said that -
The safest approach is to get from the local manufacturer's retail outlet refurbished models or store demo model. This way the manufacturer has backed the product (refurb or demo) with full warranty.

The store demo model tends to get handled and felt by lots and lots of hands that's just for the body. I'd still go for new lens.

Get a DSLR with a self-cleaning sensor unless you have safecracker's hands - actually I do, but I still have one. That would be any Canon above the Rebel XL or 40D. Their lenses and sensors are the best for digital IMHO.
