That photo was a week ago.

Now I am back in Trivandrum and the weather is terrible. I think it made it to national news. A cyclone (extremely rare) passed near our shores and we have not seen the sun for 3 days now. Rains are dumping copious amounts of water. All dams in TVM and Kollam districts have opened their shutters and low lying areas are waterlogged. Today, it has not rained much so far, but it is still cloudy and expected to rain. Alert has been issued across sea shore with waves expected up to 6 m height. To top it all, the state machinery apparently snoozed on the alert. CG, IN, and IAF are working overtime to rescue fishermen stuck in sea as a result.

Yeah, left this area but it may be upgraded as a super cyclone. Pounding poor Lakshadweep now.

Lakshadweep Islands are flat and low, aren't they? Thinking about the damage caused in the Caribbean a few weeks ago, I hate to think what a cyclone will do to Lakshadweep.

Latest reported by The Hindu is "Minicoy island received 14cm of rains in the last 24 hours ending at 0830 this morning, Met department sources said.

"Coconut trees have been uprooted in various places and houses damaged in eastern Kalpeni and Minicoy, official sources said, adding the extent of the damage was being assessed. The breakwater jetty, the embarkation and disembarkation point to Kalpeni island have also suffered severe damage."
