LIFE photo archive in Google Image Search
Hi
found new feature in Google Image Search that I found very interesting.......you can search for historic photos Search millions of historic photos e.g. for Calcutta Photos, try: http://images.google.com/images?q=calcutta+source:life see a 1943 picture of Howrah bridge

I mean thank you so much!! You've put me in touch with a forgotten history of my country.
The famine of Bengal ... its was moving to see those images of my country. No need for words to describe what we see in those images. Makes me sad that there is no comparable journalism by Indian media today that is equally evocative - given the burning issues we have today. Thanks for the link.
I found some nice pictures of Nizams of Hyderabad, beautiful Princesses, The Falaknuma Palace, The Nizam State Railway building (Secunderabad Railway Station), Osmania University Library, Golconda Fort, and The British Residency (William Dalrymple was soliciting contributions for the upkeep of this building in his White Mughals Book). Here's my favorite picture of Prince Mukhfam Jah Bahadur. |
