Easy! I was nearly 20 in 1970 (wait! at 18, one does not feel nearly 20!). My childhood was recorded in Kodachrome, and I still have my father's slides, albeit with lots of specks and probably a bit of mildew. Digitisation has been on the to-do list for a long time. I guess I' better not leave it until the equipment to do it has passed away!
Luv it

I have a roll - MY last roll - of Kodachrome, waiting to be picked up in the mail when I get home. The end of an era, indeed. As film started to disappear, I shot less and less . . . Kodachrome 25 and 64, oh yeah, and my favorite, K-200 . . . tried digital fora while . . . ho hum . . . I miss the personalities of each film . . . I knew them (after shooting them for over 30 years) as friends . . . and now they're gone.
P.S. And Lou, some very stunning images! Thank you for sharing

Kodachrome slides had a unique quality in their color and saturation. A pity the process for developing them was so complicated. I fear the day that black and white film will become a relic and that I will no longer be able to purchase my favorite Ilford fibre base paper. I have some high quality prints that were hand-printed and they're works of art, have yet to see a digital reproduction that comes close (and will withstand time as well as they did).

Steve McCurry, the photographer who shot the famous Afghan girl NatGeo cover, shot the LAST roll of Kodachrome film, in where else? INDIA.
and I agree that Kodachrome was the best film ever. used it for garden photography when I taught gardening classes... http://www.petapixel.com/2013/01/13/the-end-of-an-era-steve-mccurry-shoots-the-final-roll-of-kodachrome-film/

I too had many pictures that I transferred to disk that was lost due to Hurricane Katrina, just like you I use to look at them ever so often and remember the places and people. Most of mine were of my 20+ years in India.gypsie
