Is this a good camera?

Sorry guys but the search function isn't working for me so I don't know if this has been asked before.

I had an e-mail today advertising the Canon EOS 1000D with 18-55 IS lens for £346. Seems very cheap to me.

Does anyone have any experience of this camera? Any drawbacks etc?

I was looking at the 50 for a while but the price of this is swaying me.

Link to it here
Canon EOS 100D

Any info welcome

Excellent camera.
Hihghly recommended.
A very good price
View finder rather small, and at times metering can over expose, but these are only slight niggles.
Go for it.

Thanks for the reply.
On looking at the e-mail again I've found that you can claim a further £30 cashback. So I think I'm going to be buying.

I've just bought the Sony A300 with kit lens for £350 and it is excellent.

However, it came third in a recent review, with the 1000D coming first, Nikon second.

If you like Canon go for it. I doubt you'll be disappointed.
The only thing I'd say is that kit lenses are usually a bit rubbish (including my one) so maybe you're best buying the body only and then buying a better lens. The Tamron 18-250 is getting good reviews, at £270-£300. So you get the 1000d and a decent lens for less than two-thirds the price of the 50d.

Just for info, I made my decision based on the CCD-anti shake, superior LiveView and tiltable screen on the Sony. But I could easily gone for the 1000D as I like Canon a lot.

Make sure you get the 18-55IS and not the old 18-55 lens without IS which also has poorer optics.
