India:experiences with video cam
As well as digital cam I am thinking of taking video cam to India and wondered if there is anyone else who has done so already - prepared to share what they have learnt from the experience.
thanks |

Having traveled several times in India without a video camera
on my last trip - my fifth - I took it. Taking it was worth more, much more, than the added weight and worry. I was in Varanasi for six months on that trip, and during monsoon. No adverse effects from moisture and heat. I did buy a voltage regulator while there (I also brought a laptop) and felt safer with that; as Varanasi has - as many Indian cities do - electrical outtages/surges quite frequently during monsoon. But again, no problems at all. I thought it was well worth taking. It brings back another layer of India that still photos can't.

no longer haul around all the video equipment, no matter how small and light it all is...now I just take little movies with my dig camera, and find those more appealing to look at after I get home than the longer versions I used to take.
