In pictures: Saris and temples

From BBC online:
"Photographer and cultural anthropologist, Chantal Boulanger-Maloney, died earlier this year after spending over a decade travelling around India. She became an authority on the Dravidian culture of south India, spending many months in and around Hindu temples there. She was an expert on marriage rituals and the role of sex, love and religion in the region, unearthing numerous works of literature to support her research."

Oh, that is sad. I was in touch with her a few years ago by email about saris and dhotis and bought a copy of her book which details dozens of different ways of tieing them.

I'm sure she is now clothed in the greatest colours of the universe...
