Help me choose a camera to take
okay so I have a digital Canon S40 and an Olympus Mju (the first model)
I don't know how i'll be able to recharge the digital or how to store more than 256k of shots other than to buy a 1Gb CF card which still limits me over a 3 month trip. Then I have to carry a charging unit to slot the battery into and the film option suddenly looks better, that is until I think about how my little Mju will perform. Film, no problem, camera battery no problem but quality. Someone told me to sell the S40 and Mju and buy a Ricoh GRs something. What do you think? |

there's been a lot of posting on camera and media options if you use the search engine. i am bring my canon s60 with 1gb, and may be get me a gimini 20gb media storage device that can dl pictures directly from your card, watch movies, playes mp3 and optional radio... rather than getting another camera, keep the smallest and most user friendly camera you already own but do bring extra propritory batteries as they may be hard to find when they fizz out in middle of your trip (also bring electric outlet adaptors for chargers)... alternatively, you might consider just going to internet cafes every few weeks to dl to cds and sent it home for safe backup

thanks for the responses.
it seems that taking digital means taking the canon's charger unit and having to consider how long the batteries last too. Each battery seems to last about a day or so and i'm not an avid photographer either.... why do I feel as if i'm talking myself into film again? then I have to buy a 1Gb CF card for about £85. i long for the day when i'll be able to just take goddamn pictures without having to buy extras or burn stuff onto cd's. Have i just invented something? I guess the thing is that whenever i turn my iMac on, I end up spending hours finding things to see and do on the net...like this and i simply want to take pictures and get on with my day. I can't get my head around going all the way to Dharamsala only to sit in internet cafes playing with PC's and camera stuff. A revolutionary idea would be to take both. Did I just do that? |
