There are airports on the west coast with a similar outlook. Dabolim for instance (though its runway is at 80 degrees; Steven's one being 50)

Is that what the 50 on the runway is for?

Yes ... It's actually 05 (the writing faces the pilot during landing). They miss off the last digit and number runways to the nearest 10 degrees; so to land on runway 23 you'd be heading 230 degrees.

The other end of the runway in your picture will have 31 on it (360 -50)! Still no idea where it is though.

If you have not much better to do, check out Heathrow on Google Earth. Its main runways face due East-West (90 and 270 degrees). As there's two parallel runways, pilots are told to use 27 left (for instance). You can clearly see the R or L under the runway numbers. I knew my pilot licence would come in handy one day!

Thanks ba9rn for the info.

I'm surprised nobody has guessed this one yet, a runway with a beach to the south, in India, there can't be too many.

Having scoured the coast, it's near a place called Dangarvadi. But I bet GrantAustralia has the right airport name.
