Gigabit panorama photos
I shoot a lot of 360 degree VR photos in India and I also shoot some gigabit panorama photos too.
What’s a gigabit pano? It’s kind of like Google Earth where you can zoom in on a huge image and move around it looking at things in detail. Here’s a site where I have some of them posted. http://www.gigapan.org/viewProfile.php?userid=5072

This is amazing; how do you take this shot - is it stitched later or is it taken with an extrawide angle...Great shots

Wasn't too impressed until I realised the level of detail, which is astonishing, you can read every name on India Gate, and I've never seen anything like that camel fair. Was surprised to see a number of camels with trunks, guess it's not just camels that get sold there.
Did you need a special kind of camera did you need to get those shots, or are they "just" very high resolution? |

Amazing stuff, isn't it. Do check out Cameleer's website too (and he's posted numerous of his pano links on IndiaMike itself): http://camelphotos.com/
He used to have a caption lifting a tip of the veil of the photography process too, but I can't find it. Hopefully he wants to supply the link later.

That Giga panorama of Pushkar was done by stitching together about 80 photos. When shooting these you need to overlap the shots by about 25%. The photo would have turned out clearer but there was a lot of smoke and haze in the air so I had to filter what I could out using PhotoShop.
It’s usually best to use a tripod for ones with a lot of shots. For ones like The India Gate it was shot handheld. Here’s a VR Panorama it just got done putting together. This type of shot is always hard to due, people dancing, vehicles going by and to top if off its nighttime! Shot with a Canon 5D, Nikkor 10.5mm lens and camera about 9 feet high on a pole. http://www.indiavrtours.com/agra/wedding_night4.html You can find most of my photos of India here: http://www.indiavrtours.com/site_map.html |

The Taj Mahal, India.
Backside view of The Taj Mahal as seen from The Yamuna River.
Shot handheld with a Canon 5D, 70-200mm f/2.8 lens. Make sure to zoom in and look around at all of the beauty!! http://www.gigapan.org/viewGigapan.php?id=6082 |
