Thumbs up

That's a great little site, Vadim.

Easy to get around, quick to load and some great photography.

This one, in particular, is a cracker!

Haven't read the whole journal yet but I like what I've read of it so far.

That was an excellent journal and the photos were fantastic. There was one from Udaipur that made me haul out my photos and see that, yes, this is the same view of the city that I had captured (only yours more colourful). I see that you flew AC from Toronto. I am thinking of doing the same this January rather than the KLM 2 day exhausting journey from Montreal. You journal made me really anxious for my trip. I too, will be going to many of the places you have been. I am now really intrigued by Kolkata. I shall stop rambling now, but wow, have you ever got me wanting to go NOW!

That was like taking a mini-trip!

I can clearly remember the dancing woman in Udaipur with the strange eyes. She ended up balancing about a dozen pots on her head while standing on a bed of nails, then dancing around the stage!

Where does this dancing-balancing show take place in Udaipur? This sounds like something to see.

Wow - the diversity of angles, literally and figuratively, is amazing.
Thanks!

Hi and thanks for the kind words.

I took the following equipment with me on the trip:

Canon 20D camera without the battery grip, didn't wanna have an already big camera

Canon 17-40mm f4
Canon 50mm f1.8 for low light situations
Tamron 28-75 f2.8
3 GB of Sandisk Ultra compact flash cards
1 Fujitsu notebook with 60 gbs of space
Blanks DVD-Rs

I took this trip as more a vacation then a photo trip... I traveled with my friend, and we both had DSLR cameras... so approaching people together wasn't obvious.... and at times, we scared people.

The women dancers in Udaipur was down by the water, or down the alleyway where Edeilweiss Cafe is found. You go down that lane, and to the left, there are large arches. It was really worth it.... sadly, I went camera crazy and spent the time shooting instead of enjoying

Air Canada was pretty good, except on the way back... when our plane was grounded for electrical problems with the entertainment system... 20 000 aeroplan miles later.. I was quite happy again

Cheers to you all,

Vadim

Just to expound on Vadim's answer, there is a museum near the Jagat Niwas Hotel (very nice hotel BTW- and a great restaurant too!) that has a Cultural Program every week, I think on Friday evenings. The entrance fee is very reasonable and it's well worth it. I'm sure any hotel manager could give you details.

Photo ID: 3813 is simply one of the MOST stunning beautiful photos i have seen. Since they are copyrighted, maybe you should sell like post cards or something of it. GREAT photo :-) Thanks for posting.

Thank you so much Agn... I just wish there was not scaffolding on the temple... Bodghaya was such a different place... what I enjoyed about the trip is that I didn't go there with a real itinerary.. it was just take is as it comes... listening to other travelers was a great decision.

To me, the scaffolding is what makes it so striking. It's not just another beautiful temple in the sunset picture.
