You can also find thoughtfully written reviews of cameras at Amazon.com - I am i the process of trying to decide which new camera to buy myself and I've found these reviews really helpful.

You can also search there in a sophisticated way for the kind of camera you want by choosign various features, prices, etc.

Thansk all. I decided to go for A550 as it ios 7.1 Megapixel whereas price gap is small.

Go for an entry level DSLR like Canon 400D. You will not regret your decision.

@ Mahmud,

Both the cameras that you have mentioned are good quality Point & Shoots. However if you are keen on only Canon I would like to suggest a slightly higher level: either the A570IS of the A720IS

Between the 2 the 720 IS is a better choice with a very useful
6X zoom lens and a lot of manual features,it has the Digic III processor with face recognition capability.

If you can look outside Canon, a fantastic camera is the Panasonic TZ3, it would be ideal for trekking, and landscapes. It is small, has 7 MP 10X zoom lens, most important it has a real wideangle lens starting at 28mm which is great for scenery.

Thanks all for the nice suggestions. I changed my decision & after reviewing all of your comments, will take decision.

FYI,here Canon A550 price is Tk. 13,500 (1 USD = 69.5 Tk.).

I am checking the other options price too.

I feel zoom is important for good photography

These A series camera have less zoom (4x; 7MP)

Instead go fo S3IS (12x; 6MP)

Don't bother about mega pixles anything above 5 is OK

JUST CHECK THE PRICE & SPECS BETWEEN THE CANON'S AND THE FinePix S5700

I HAVE A FinePix S5700 did a lot of checking and then settled for this with 10X optical zoom which i feel helps a lot
