buying low-end digicam

hey guys i want to buy a digital camera-as cheap as possible. i am not a photographer and need the camera only for family functions etc. so i just want good quality images (for viewing on computer only as i probably won't print them). i am very confused about which brand to buy, what are the essential features and how many megapixels i should go for? 7 and above?
can you please suggest some good digital camera which is low priced and is the best bargain.
really appreciate ur help...thank you...

I bought a Kodak Easy Share camera at bargain price when I was back in Oz, and these are available here - slightly more expensive but still not highly priced in comparison to more up to date, whizz bang models. It is fairly easy to get the hang of it, and the picture is excellent quality.
It does 7.1 megapixels, and I'm perfectly contented with that.

for normal use a digital camera with 3x optical zoom and 4megapixel is more than enough.........

do not think too much for megapixels - a 3 megapixel photo comes out in the size of A4 size (8in by 11 in)....more than what you need

for last 5 years I am using sony cybershot cameras and I found them very userfriendly.........however cannon and nikon are also very similar in function

you should be able to get sony/nikon/canon cameras with 3x optican zoom and 4megapixel within 10,000 rupees

My model no. is C713 (it's not the very latest!) and has 3X optical zoom lens, and checking the megapixels it's 7.0 not 7.1 which I mentioned before. It was on special at a chain store in Oz, and I paid $99Aus. for it which is roughly the equivalent of 3,366 rupees going by current exchange rates.
