Boats of Bangladesh

Bangladesh is a riverine country. More than 250 rivers flowing all over the country. So, it is not wondering that a major portion of the population use boats as transport. Many kind of boats are used here. Passenger boat, cargo boat, sailing boat, engine boat, wooden boat, steel boat & many more.

I took some photos of the boat during my travel to Barisal, Khulna, Mongla, & Sylhet. Please see & comment. http://www.flickr.com/photos/mahmud

Great photos, Mahmud. Brings back many happy memories of my travels in Banlgadesh.

By the way, you should also mention that the picture 'Shuttle Boat' shows one of the famous 'Rocket Steamers' that travel from Dhaka to Khulna. I made a journey on one of these last year - a brilliant trip - only 8 pounds for a first class cabin on the 27 hour journey! I would recommend it to anyone.

Mahmud,

Thank you for sharing the beautiful pictures. I hope that one day I will be able to visit your beautiful country. Inshallah.

I was wondering about the photos of the people in the Chittagong Hill tracts - who are they?

Actualy, I have taken the photos in Kaptai Lake (Not Karnafuli river). The water of the lake is calm & no current.

Other hand, you are 100% correct about Karnafuli river's current.
