I'm not sure what's readily available in India, but personally I swear by Canon cameras. Whichever brand you get, make sure that it has a MACRO function on it. This is important for getting good close-up pictures. Most digital cameras have that feature. Also, if you can get a camera with Image Stabilization technology this might help you photograph things in lower light without a flash. A lot of times using a flash tends to drown out color in photos.

Hope this helps!

Send a message via Yahoo to nomad
i know what will work for you.
buy a camera where you can add extra filters. you will need a CPL filter to cut the glare from leather etc.

sony prosumer cameras have filter threads

They do provide manufacturer's Guarantee & Warranty on their products when you buy in bill. However if you wish to save some money they will be ready to give you cameras without bill, still they will provide you with 3 months warranty (on their own).

IMHO, there is no best camera. You can use a Point and Shoot from Nikon, Sony, Canon etc. or a high end DSLR.

I would say, the answer would be where you wish to use the pictures?
Also, how profession do these pictures have to look. In case you would like to use the pictures for a brochure etc, then you would require a studio setup with backdrop and lights.

HI,
Thats a great news for buying Sony Digicam. Also the price is cool. I bought a Nikon-F80 and a 70-300Zoom and its too good. But you should have gone for an SLR (Manual or Digital). Well it may cross your Budget but that would have been a right choice for you if you take photography seriously.

Well have a great time and clicking. Do post some great pics from your Sony Digicam.

Good LUck
