Advice needed for a Movie Camera

Hi Friends,

I want to buy a Movie Camera or a Handycam ... this will be the first one I'll ever use ... and my budget is around Rs. 25,000 to Rs. 30,000

Please help me in deciding which one I'll buy ... I have no fascination about any brands ...

Also, I'll be very helpful if anyone can suggest from where in Kolkata I can buy this to get a good deal !!! (Ill prefer not to buy fom the Grey Market without paper)

Thanks in advance ...

The era of the handicam is drawing to a close.

Video functions are becoming standard features on still cameras. Canon's Rebel T1i (EOS 500D) shoots HD video and is at the upper end of your price range.

Your other, cheaper, option is a Flip, which plugs into the USB port of your computer:

iPods shoot video now, too.

Thanks a lot for your advices ...

So any suggestion which Model of Digicam I'll opt for ??? My budget is Rs.20,000 to Rs. 30,000 (or around)

I think as I do not know Photography much... so handling SLRs may be of risk ..

also, as I do a lot of travlling here and there, so carrying a heavy-weight SLR camera with accessories (several Lenses etc) wil be hazardous ...

The features I'll require in my camera is :

1. A good quality picture with a nice clarity and sharpness

2. a good Optical Zoom

3. a clear and noiseless picture during Night-shoot

4. A good quality Movie recording (may not be HD)

5. a good battery life (or easy to get cheap battery)

6. having a view-finder (optional)

Looking forward for your advices ...
