A shot in the dark in Agra
know this is going to sound insane, but two folders of my digital photos are on a computer somewhere in Agra so I am desperate!
I downloaded photos, and just realized now that I am home that two of the folders did not copy onto the disk! Of course, I am horribly disappointed, but thinking they are still on the computer. I guess I am crazy thinking anyone can help, but here goes. In Agra, there is a Pizza Hut. And if one was standing in front of the Pizza Hut, facing it, and walked to their left, they would see on the next corner, a yellow sign that advertised CD Burning with an arrow to the right....The place is a store, not an internet cafe, but the first room has a lot of blanket sort of things and the second room is large full of tables (it would be hard not to know if you were in the right place because of this). Beyond the table room was a little room with two computers where people could burn their CDs...it's this place I wanted an email contact or phone number for.....or, if anyone was desperate for rupees, I would pay them to look on this computer to see if my photos were still there, I know exactly what the pictures were....and the downloads have the dates on them....I am not kidding, I would wire it over.... I don't need any responses from people telling me how stupid it is to try to recover these photos, thanks, but if you might have gone into this shop and had it's name I would be eternally grateful. |

I am sure someone travelling to Agra to see the Taj Mahal and / or staying there will be able to help you out as there are possibilities that the folder may still be stored in the computer you burned the CDs at and the store owner will not mind doing the needful for the person who goes there with the exact number of the camera details and dates as provided by you. May you get your pictures back safely. No harm in trying is there?!!! After all nothing much to lose if you try and everything to gain if you do get the pictures downloaded and burned again for you.
Cheers, Aadil.

Nancig51, I know exactly how you feel, and I don't think this is insane at all. (I'm the fellow who got into the Taj at 6 a.m., snapped photos like crazy till 7 a.m., and then found I had forgotten to load the camera!)
Have you contacted your hotel to tell them what happened? It may well be that they could solve your problem more swiftly than someone ayt indiamike, who might JUST happen to remember your directions, or JUST happen to be in Agra when they open this thread. Surely a local would be able to identify the place from your directions, and maybe if you've been a pleasant customer, they would do this favour for you in return for a "plug" of their hotel on indiamike. At very worst, they ought to be able to tell you the name and address of the shop, so you could give THEM a plug on this forum! Good luck! |
