A request for help (photos)

Hi guys, I'm putting together a little project on my own website. It's a clickable map that will take you to a photo gallery of said destinations.

I don't know about others folks but when I'm reasearching a Indian destination I'm usually googleing for images to get a feel for the place!!!
Of course many of the images thrown up are useless, like little GIF banners or whatever.

IM has great gallery of photos but it's still takes time to search through them all

So I've decided to try and create an easy to navigate way of seeing some pictures of your chosen destination!!

A map where you simply click on the name of the town, to see some images of what the place has to offer.

So can you help!! By sending me some photos of places you've visited which I can add to the galleries.

This will surely help out future travellers to India!!

I'm especially interested in the forts, tanks, stepwell, temples, palaces scenery and monuments that different places have to offer, not so much on Indian life and street scenes.

I'm happy to receive the images as Jpegs or bitmaps and the file/image size isn't important I'll resize them anyway!!

Once added to the gallery I'll disable the ability to copy your photos but will be unable to copyright them for you!!

So please help out if you can, it will I hope be a good resource for future travellers to Ma India

Good idea. Sounds like just the thing I'd happily waste an hour two clicking away at.

Feel free to use any of mine:

Click! and follow the links.

For some odd reason, you'll have to add a ".jpg" extension after downloading the pics.

Let me know if you use any of them - it's always nice to see my photos popping up elsewhere on the 'net.

Thanks a lot doc. This will be sometime in construction but I hope it will interest people, once it's up and running!!

By the way can anyone who does contribute photos just pop the name of the place in the subject line box makes it much simpler in the end

Great idea.

I've very few (if any) photos that would be useful to you, but will have a look through them.

Would a photo of Howrah train station be of any use?

The map in the last link was showing Indian states, will the new map be showing cities and other places of tourist interest?

Just out of curiosity, will the 'end product' be an initial India map with clickable states, that link to individual maps of each state with clickable place names for access to the photos? (what a mouthful)

I think initially I just make the maps much larger to be able to fit in all the tourist destination per state.
The option you mention of individual states being shown is a good one but loads of work. As I have to draw the maps myself, which without a tablet is very time consuming!!

Howrah station would fine!!

most of the photos in my photo gallery here are of buildings - if there is anything you can use feel free to download it, if that is an option - don't know how these computer-thingummy-jigs work!

Why don't you just open a new window that takes you to the destination page where the image is posted?

cyber by disabling the saving function u'll be missing out on a critical element. I for one would be against that. It would be much better if u could use some of the creative commons license. For a beautiful e.g. look at http://creative.linux-delhi.org & see what good work niyam along with the Delhi LUG are doing. I just wish I had a good mobile phone camera & then would've posted a bundle on the site.

Jivan I take your point I've no problem with people using my photos but I wasn't sure if people contributing would feel the same way!!
