The thought of eating a cat??? Oh, yuck, and I never knew this was going on here in India... First time I heard of this today in your post, Nick. Well, you live and learn, but not something you really want to know about. I wonder do some people eat dogs too??

Probably. The cat eaters eat all small mammals, I'm told.

She has been seen, so is known to be alive, and there are more cat people in the street than I ever imagined!

Hope you mean cat lovers out there, not cat eaters
(that people eat cats in Chennai regularly is news to me, too)

I think there are enough animal lovers out there. Doesn't matter what kind of animal.

I hope that the fish market cat will show up healthy and happy. This story makes my blood run cold. Keeping fingers crossed.

And then there was one...

Very sad: my big white tom cat died yesterday, looks like he was hit by a car or a bike crossing the road to the house.

He never got a name other than Boy Cat, but, in full, it was Floppy Soppy Boy Cat.

He was a typical teenager (actually less than 2 yrs old) stomping around being independent and thuggish, until something made him decide he wanted a cuddle, and then he would be all floppy and soppy.

As they say in the obits, he is survived by one sister.

(Actually two sisters, but the other one was never recaptured after escaping from the vet)

Really sorry to hear that, Nick.

I know how upset I was when on of my two cats went missing for a few days, let alone discovering that they have chased their final mice.

Keeping my fingers crossed that sister cat continues to enjoy a long and happy life and all the fuss and attention that you and Mrs N have lavished on the furry family over the last two years.

Sorry to hear this, Nick, so you are down to one cat now? Maybe sister cat will find a mate, and you will start all over again with your tales.

Thank you all... yes we are both very sad. It is so hard to believe that he wont be barging in through the door and steeling his sister's food again any time.

There is already an applicant for the vacancy. A Black & White cat has been living in our passage way for a week or two, and noisily demanding food. Very odd, these cats... its as if they know something....

Go for it! Everything happens for a reason - especially where cats are concerned.

Hope you keep the newcomer. Or rather, should I say, hope the newcomer allows itself to be adopted.
