my god, that's so horrible. it was so bad that i could only watch half of it, which was a real struggle, and i reckon i've got a pretty strong stomach. i used to be a vegetarian, and am considering converting back. its not as though i eat much meat anyway

So Sorry for these Helpless Creatures ~
I feel so sorry for these helpless creatures.
I do eat chicken but never knew these guys could get so Brutal.
I just wish if someone could help these poor creatures.

My father (a butcher by trade) came to America in 1927 and worked 20 years in a meat packing house near the Chicago Stockyards. Growing up, I heard all types of stories of what goes on to bring the pristine wrapped-in-plastic sirloin steak to your dinner tables. Believe me, things haven't changed much.
I've always said that if people REALLY knew what went on, everyone would be a vegetarian. Didn't Gandhi say that a society is judged by its treatment of animals.....?

I appreciate the good work PETA does in goading society to treat animals better, but sometimes they paint their picture with very broad brushstrokes. There are alternatives to factory-farmed meat on the market. And some portions of the meat industry itself works for better treatment of animals.
What does this thread have to do with India, though, I'm wondering?

I agree. Most of this animal farming happens in the US. India does have Animal Cruelty Prevention Laws which apply to slaughterhouses too. Yup, India probably has the best laws, enforcement, due to resource limitations and corruption, is another matter. I agree that this thread has nothing to do with India, and can move it to the "Off Topic" forum. But then, not everyone -including the thread initiator - will be able to view it.

just my opinion but............
This thread may/may not have anything to do with India as such, but ahimsa does...................I have seen this movie before and wouldn't even contemplate watching it again. Far too disturbing. At least there was a warning that it contained graphic detail. Considering there are a lot of vegetarians in India I think it is quite relevant, and if it awakens some peoples' awareness of what really goes on before they meet their meat, good!!!!
I agree with Yogagal...........if people only knew what went on, and I think it's a worldwide phenomena..........animals can't speak for themselves and we are supposed to be the more evolved(???) - no wonder this planet is in such turmoil. If more compassion was shown to all species we'd all be much better off as people.

I am mostly Veg, then when I was in North India saw many cute goats, many tied to teathers outside butcher shops. They were soo cute and healthy looking. My first reaction was, “My, that goat (mutton) looks healthy, I bet he would be really tasty to eat.”
Now in America here I don’t eat any red meat, and maybe fresh fish that I’ve caught a few times a year. I don’t eat “commercial” red meat here in the USA cause it is mostly factory farmed stuff (I do own, and have read Diet For a New America).
So I have to say that, I only eat mutton from those healthy looking Indian goats.

That was very harsh and sad, a lot of people in india are veggie but so much comes from animals not only meat but cheese milk leather etc etc .
I do eat meat and i do buy free range eggs and the supermarket i shop in although pricier supports fair trade etc.
But what can we do, go veggie? possible but a lot of people rely on jobs in the meat/egg/milk industy. Its not as if many countries will have pigs and chickens if no one ate the eggs or the animals. They just wouldnt exist , maybe pigs on farms as waste disposal.
Well its made me think anyway.

Whooaaa
Why on earth then we have goats and chicken ? Any pre historic data on vegeterian idealogy exists ? Sorry if i am naive, but I dont think so ! Have you ever gone to a mountain with pals, in cold, hunt down a Good Big Jungle Goat with a knife and then prepeare your meal over the fire ? Come on, lets give Non vegeterian people the break. Eat whatever you want,if grass and leaves satisfy you, thats cool, but let others enjoy the smell of the meat and savour the same...
Thanks,

in my india lots of people are veg. and those who are nonveg many of them dont want cruelty with animals. like a blank hole in the galaxy only few people are there who are real devil and does not consider animal as a iiving thing . we are also living thing but i never come to know why some of the humanbeing become so cruel. like the owner of kfc , according to above link his lot of top official leave the company, due to the cruel way they are treating those innocent birds.
This video is awful, and im sure true of alot of meat factories but they're are alternatives, if you go to farm shops etc... You dont have to be veggetarian to not support this industry. Also if everyone went veggie all the animals would have to be put down.
Eating meat is very damaging for the evironment though - thats why i was veggie for a few yrs, definately the biggest slice of my carbon footprint(thu not if your jetting off to india all the time!)
