I love all animals.

But yes, I have been bitten by a dog.

It was all my fault.

A cute little cuddly dog was sleeping.

I woke him up and started teasing him.

He bit me.

But nevertheless, I still continue to do the same whenever I spot a stray dog.

Thumbs up

@AMG I think you should stop doing it as it can be really dangerous .
I never been bitten by dog,but have been chased many times especially when i go for a run on the beach . Its scary as there are packs of dogs so i end up running into their territory .I have read somewhere, one should never run ,throw stones or even directly looks into the eyes of the dogs or any other animal, these things can really invite trouble .
Im looking for some good advice safety tips, and the people to contact to rescue such animals from different cities .Hope the fellow indiamikers share their knowledge.

i was quite scared by the dogs at the beach in patnem at night...
during the day, they are fine and mostly running away, but at night, they get very agressive
same advise as with monkeys: carry a big stick, normally waving it is enough to scare them away...
but i also met met a french guy last year who couldnt get to the bus stand in pushkar because a pack of dogs woulndt let him through and even the locals didnt scare them away...

I work with stray dogs and in 15 years have been bitten once and that was by a rabid dog. I handle a couple of 100 dogs a year but if you are good to them than there is little to worry.

Your ideas and poll show that you start on the wrong foot as you seem to belief that hate and killing are solutions.

By the sound of it there is no good advice for you other than stay far, far away from animals. And maybe you should stay away from people too because people who hate animals tend to hate people too.

I think you got me totally wrong my friend . See i personally dont hate any creature on earth. I have pets in my house and everyone has a different take on street animals. Good people like you are the biggest help and hope for these poor animals .

Then why the question ...

which street Animal you hate the most

What a ridiculous and offensive poll question. Completely invalidates anything useful that might be said in the thread, so I won't bother to try.

ps... you left out the most hateful and dangerous animal on the planet.

Maybe you should do some editing ... or ask the mods to remove the poll from the thread?

Never been bitten by a dog.. although have heard of a few rare cases with friends. Just ignore them and they wont bother you usually. Still better to carry a stick or an umbrella in case your walking/running in more deserted areas or where there are more aggressive dogs. Opening the umbrella between you and the dog usually confuses them as they cant see you anymore

I also think the poll question on this thread is pointless for starting discussion on this matter. I doubt many people will vote, and worse still it puts people off even participating in the thread. Fear and hate are two different things.

Why don't you focus some of your 'hate' towards civic authorities who cannot be bothered to undertake appropriate 'humane' measures in dealing with strays? e.g. sterilisations, or supporting existing animal welfare NGO's.

I suspect that Royalrider probably just chose his words badly, and probably regrets it now.

Must be that because if RoyalRider has pets he can't be too bad .

i just remeber, had a really nice day with a dog in the mountains:
my wife and me went for a day hike and this dog starts following us through the woods. came with us all day, never begged for food or anything, scared another dog away and left us in the evening when we were back at our hotel...really nice companion

Just a misunderstanding then.

It's actually an interesting point you are raising. (or at least I think your are). I know many people who absolutely love dogs, (even sometimes have one at home), but yet find it very difficult to deal with stray dogs on the streets in India. In some cases, they are absolutely terrified of all of them.
