Zippo Lighters

I know it's you can't take lighter fluid in your luggage and hand luggage, but what about Zippo lighters?

Are you allowed to take them on the plane with you, would you have to put it in your suitcase, or would you be allowed to take it overseas at all?

Anyone have any issues over the years?

A box of safety matches (that cant be struck without the box) is all you can take on the plane.

Lighters are OK in your case or pack, as long as that case or pack isn't a 'carry on'.

These regulations get sillier and sillier.

Shampoo is restricted... but a box of matches is allowed?

Excuse me sir, please extinguish the seat in front of you: smoking is not permitted

The safety matches are needed in case there is an electrical failure and they need to see how much fuel is left.

I recently flew back from Dominican Republic and they took the insides of my Zippo lighter (left me with only the sleeve) because their rules prohibit you from having ANY lighters or lighter fluid on your person (including carry on) during the flight. This rule applies for all domestic and international flights.

According to my Air India tickets

If the lighter needs inverting before lighting then is is not allowed on the plane at all. (Hand Baggage or Checked in Baggage)

So, I would be able to take my lighter on these international flights, except hand luggage, but I am flying domestically in India with SpiceJet, will I be able to take the zippo onto the plane at all?
