What to wear ?

Hi all,

First time to India next month with my husband. Three weeks in Rajasthan and a week in south Goa.

I've been doing a bit of research on what to wear and I have come across advice to buy a shalmar kameez, as women commented that they got a lot less hassle when they wore one. I imagine this wouldn't be so much of an issue in Goa, but in Rajasthan it might be a good thing to do.

Anyway, just wondering where in Delhi I should go to buy one?

Thank you!

Wearing salwar kameez won't really stop any hassle you get have but it sure is a comfortable attire for India!!

Not that I've tried of course I draw the line at "skirts"

Any ladies clothes shop.

You won't have any difficulties finding them.

See the many threads on dressing in India (for women) to pick up hints about buying ready-made, getting "ready-made" alterred, buying "sets" and getting tailoring done....

Get him one, I'll get one and we'll have our selves a kickin' eunuch party. Terrorising engagements and births.

Tee Hee. But I think it needs another edit

Rasher... just in case we have muddied the water with our banter, salwar kameez is definately a ladies only dress.

So my research tells me. But I am sorely tempted not to tell him. I've already persuaded him to bring a pith helmet.

Phew! I thought we'd confused you

I used to wear a Panama in Chennai --- but Pith Helmets are worn by our traffic police...

This one belonged to his great grandfather, who was in the British Army in India. He's not really taking it, but the panama might be a good idea.
