What to tip in India

This may sound nieve but what tips should be given or expected say to poters at airports/train stations hotels ect for luggage. l am surprised at what is suggested from the resipiant most times but usually keep it lower, but hate to have to barter over the tip, as to a westener it is such a small ammount anyway,or should l say a bargain. l know there seems to be a two tier system one for the locals and one for the tourist for most things like rikshaws and taxis,but we all have to make a living, and in India its a lot harder. looking forward to a couple of months of sunhine and meeting old freinds in Jan.

Annas & Bananas ... or if that doesn't suffice a five/ten rupee note might do.
