Unhappy Visiting Pondicherry on 22 to 24 June 2008

Hi Guys,
I have read few posts on Pondicherry here. Thanks to you guys.
I am staying in Noida and will be visiting Pondicherry this month (22-24th )and its my first ever visit to any South India City.

I am most worried abt the language problem in south India and having lot of doubts. Can anyone of you tell me....

1) what are places of interest
2) places for stay with moderate rates as I wanted to make it short and non-expensive trip
3) other travel tips...

and I am waiting to hear from you....

Thanks a lot in advance

If you can speak English, you will get by nicely in South India, plus a lot of the language chauvanism seems to have died away, and many of the younger people speak Hindi.

I am English, and speak only English. My wife is Tamil. Neither of us can pronounce the Pondy French street names! But it's a small place, and you'll get by.

There's lots of information on the site, please browse and do a search. As for general travel tips, its what the entire site is about

You can sail smooth with english...

Just went through the link myself, most of the tourist attractions mentioned seems to be royal crap. Aurobindo Ashram, Auroville, and some good old churches can be visited. Stroll along the french section, close to the beach to get a hang of the french architecture and the promenade(beach road).
