trouble with sleeping

Hi all hope you are well, a quick question, pretty much sorted for my trip apart from what to take to sleep in. I am going to India, Pakistan and Nepal. Do i need to take a sleeping bag, rolled up floor mat and a sleeping bag liner for cooler nights. A little confused!! Thanks for any advice!! Happy travelling!!!

It obviously depends what you plan to do. Take a sleeping bag only if you intend to visit colder regions, check some international weather sites on your precise intended destinations and times of visit, I find http://www.wunderground.com/ pretty good but there are many others. Take a mattress only if you intend to go camping. A sleeping liner doesn't take up much space and is handy for both general hygiene and comfort (at the cheaper guesthouses don't count on the bedsheets always being crisp) and adds some minimal extra security when sleeping on trains. You can have two bedsheets sewn together locally to the same effect. If you only plan to do a short trek or a stint in the mountains you might be better off hiring or buying some gear locally. On an organized trek you could probably arrange it with the agent.

I would suggest a liner, If you find that you need more than that then buy a nice blanket when you're there. Your new blanket (available everywhere) can then be used also as a shoulder wrap around, or folded for sitting on etc etc,,
Plus you've got a souvineer to bring home or if it's too much to carry home pass it on to someone else.

Happy Travelling

I pretty much agree with all the above, I'll just add that most hotels will supply the required bedding including duvets (the old fashioned ones, they're so heavy, they keep you pinned to the bed and oh so warm!)
As for trekking in Nepal, bags are available for rent near most of the main trekking routes I believe, this is of course where your bag liner/train blanket will come in very useful!! Excising the ghosts of previous inhabitants!
It's a fair spectrum of places and climates you plan to visit, to pack for them all may be a headache, the bag liner gets my vote! Cocoon, blanket on the train, a wrap if you get cold, a pillow when you have bedding, packs small, cheap, insulation from some of those "suspect beds" jeez I've even used mine on the beach.......... Times were different then!
If it's space and versatility you need get a bag liner or better still get a good cotton one ran up in India it will cost you next to nothing!!

As it happens my cousin brothers in Delhi. Mumbai................. do a very good line in rucksac liners available for a song............so whats your price???

They were called counterpains and were used on top of sheets and blankets...

Yep, and I've had cheap guesthouses that didn't provide them... brrr! Hardly a worry in hotter-than-July though I assume although I've gotten into the habit of carrying a blanket with me at the craziest of times and places. Can be easily bought locally as noted though, just make sure to buy one before you get cold.
