Space saver bag?

I am thinking of buying a "Space saver" bag.

Something like this:

Does anyone have experience of travelling with spacebags in your backpack?

I personally would not use this. Everything gets wrinkled enough. This sucks all the air out & practically puts in permanent wrinkles. I just separate things into regular plastic bags (shirts, one bag; underwear, one bag etc.) this way, I can put them on a shelf or floor (if I don't want to leave everything inside my luggage). I use any kind of plastic bag--nothing special. Hotel plastic laundry bags are nice for this

I was more thinking of using it for the clothes I buy in India and want to take home with me :-)

Oh yes, the shopping/packing problem.

What I do, is bring many things that I don't wear at home anymore, shirts, underwear, skirts, pants & I wear them and wash them a few times then leave them behind in my hotel room. I only keep what I want to wear home & maybe a few other things that are still good. This way I make room for my purchases.

Then, if that doesn't work, and last trip it didn't because we bought too many things in Jaipur like small bed quilts, we went to the market & bought a very big & cheap canvas bag to put everything in. We still weren't over the luggage weight limit, so it didn't cost extra to check it.

Or, if that doesn't work buy jewelry--it doesn't take up any space Well, I do that also.

Last time i went 17 kg over wight, and it wasn't a problem, even on the domestic flight.

I think using the vaccuum bags, will give you so much space that your bag is gonna weight a ton on your back.

I bought 4 unexpensive compression bags from a company here in Sweden.
I will try them at home first, then decide whether to take them along or not.
