Sleeping sheet - silk?
I'll be bringing a sleeping sheet along on my upcoming trip - I read somewhere that a silk one is best - true? I never used silk; what's the advantage; cool? anti-bugs? Can I easily get one in India?

I use a silk sleeping bag liner - both in my home mountains and in Asia - since a few years. It`s one of the few things that I`ve come to think of as almost necessary.
The advantages of silk are that it`s it`s extremely light & compact , dries quickly (even more so if you choose a dark color) and that that dust etc will tend to slip off instead of bonding to the surface. Look at people in Ladakh & Central Asia ; those who can afford it wears silk or the second best synthetic choice. If you have one made you could go for two contrasting colors to make it easier to find the opening in low lit sleeping cars etc. A loop or something else for attaching the low end to the sleeping bag , if used, could be nice too. |

No idea - got mine at home (made in Vietnam) , haven`t seen (or looked for ) in India. There have been a posting here earlier on where to buy silk in Delhi, methinks.

Another advantage of silk is that when it's cold, your body can warm the silk before it warms the blankets.
I used a silk longyi to keep my head and shoulders warm when I was shivering in Delhi in January.
