M2....glad someone has used this sleep bag/sleep sac before! I thought it would be the perfect compromise and it's fairly small and light weight. Also, it only costs 40 bucks, so worst case scenario is that I'm not using it and I ditch while I'm there! But I have a feeling that it will come in handy--especially on overnight trains!

We always used to take a light weight down sleeping bag and always used it on overnight trains. VERY cold at night on trains heading from the North to anywhere. Really freezing!! despite warm days. Stopped bringing it and now rent bedding at the train station for those cold train rides. Cheap and works fine.
Most hotels, even budget ones, in chilly places provide blankets. And you could buy a cheap one if you found you needed extra, and leave it behind if it was too heavy. The hill stations are very chilly at night in the winter. At least the ones I've been to. Kodai, Ooty, Mussoori. Ooty was very cold at night in Jan. Our hotel had a broken window, which didn't help ![]() |
