Sleeping Bag & Shoes in Nov -Feb??
Hi all,
Well I have been sitting here for the past 2 mths just taking in all this amazing info, and still have soo much to learn am sure!!! I am arriving in India on Nov 3 and will then spend about a mth round Rajasthan and then head south for the remaining 2 mths, departing Feb 12. Have been looking through and reading threads but am still unsure on weaher to take s/bag (as have a very little one), but main concern is shoes, as if can get by with just birkenstocks and jandals will save soo much room. I wont be going on any huge treks but love the outdoors and wandering, will probably go to wildlife parks and also maybe the odd day hike etc, but nothing too intense. Dont want to have to lug my shoes round the whole time just in case, and then never use them or only once or twice for a day! Would it be easier to buy shoes if needed? If so is this easy to do and cheap? All opinios most appreciated. Cheers, and will be speaking alot more now! ![]() |

The way I remember Birkenstocks they have a cork sole which may be comfortable but tend to go soggy in wet surroundings. I use Teva`s both at work & when travelling because when I get splashed or step into yuccy stuff I can throw them in the washing machine.
Find whatever footwear you`re comfortable with , but do it before you leave : dont waste travelling time to mend your feet. There is also an earlier footcare thread you might find useful - do a search. |

Hello Pubber.
I would take a sleeping bag, but definitly also take a sheetbag (is this a correct english word?). Sometimes the matrasses in budget hotels are pretty hard, it´s nice then to lie in your sheetbag (when it´s hot) on your sleepingbag. Been to Rajastan once in januari. Daytime is lovely, not hot, nice around 20 degrees celcius, but at night and specially early mornings it can be a bit too chilly for just a sheetbag. hi co ![]() |

You only need one item of footwear. A sturdy pair of sports-sandals, Tevas, for example. That's it. As for bringing a sleeping bag, I have to express a different opinion from that of certain of the members above me. There is simply no way to justify it. Even if you find some cold weather in the north you'll always be able to borrow (or rent for a few rupees) an extra blanket from the front desk of your hotel, no matter how low-rent your lodgings are. Carrying a sleeping bag in a tropical country is just plain silly.

silk liner & tevas
totally agree with ' iyou '. I always carry a silk liner and buy a blanket if needed , then i pass it on to someone else who will benefit from it when i'm finished , Washed of course ...did a trip similar to yours and never wore anything but my tevas ...
have a happy and safe journey
