Shipping household goods to Goa

I plan on moving to Goa next year and am wondering whether anyone has had experience of shipping goods to there?
Not a massive amount maybe four/ five cubic metres.

This thread should help:

Moving to India with two tons of fun

I moved my stuff to Kerala from the UK - one container load - total cost RS 40000. Nick-H is in the process of shipping now and may also have some useful tips.

Lucky you, eh, hope it all goes according to plan

Was that for a 20ft or a 40ft container?

Please can you post the name of the shipping company or PM me with the details?

Thanks!

My only useful tip is DON'T!.

I am paying thousands of pounds for storage for several months followed by shipping. It is just that I didn;t want to leave my history behind, and I didn't want to spend the next few years regularly saying "Oh, I need a .... I used to have one of those"

I could buy a lot of comfortable furniture for what it is costing me...

John

It was a 20ft conatiner and the company I used was Excess International Movers, www.overseasremovals.com. The stuff came in via Cochin.

As Nick said it is an expensive business with inherent hassle but definately worth it for those irreplaceable things that your grandmother gave you or in my case, my music and books, which quite frankly, I couldn't live without!!

A standard 40ft container has the capacity of 66.83 cubic metres

This is useful, John.sw.
1 cu metre = 1.31 cu yds and 1cu yard = 27 cu ft

A 20ft container (33 cu metres) works out at about 1100 cu ft.

From Montreal to Mumbai, for 20ft container I was quoted approx Canadian $5000, includes packing, unpacking, door to door, includes insurance.
