shipping cameras by private carrier
shipping cameras by private carrier
I've been avoiding domestic flights in India because of the low carry-on weight allowances, which I understand are often enforced there. But that's restricting my itineraries too much. So does anyone have any experience/advice about the use of private carriers to ship camera gear to the next location? Any suggestions, warnings, alternative ideas are appreciated.
trust only Blue-dart for expensive thngs like camera etc.

But you may carry 20-kg along with you as carry on baggage.
And you may keep your camera & accessories in hand baggage.
I think there should not be any problem! You may also ask your agent to confirm with the airlines.

I've checked several of the main domestic airlines, and their carry-on limit is usually 7-8 kg. My bag usually ends up around 10-11 kg. I know the tricks, of course: wearing a photographer's vest that will hold a lens; carrying one camera around the neck if need be; carrying the bag with apparent ease so that it doesn't look heavy. And I could put the gear into checked baggage, but that would seem to be asking for problems.
So I'm looking into the suggestions here and still hoping for a good overall solution. Thanks to everyone for the advice.
