Sending myself treats from home

Hi all, I am leaaving for tamil nadu for 12-18 months in ten days. I am making up some parcels which will be sent to me every few months from home. what would you send yourself from home after a few months on the road?
so far, all i have is a few books, some vodka ( to keep the stomach bugs at bay, well thats my excuse) and ofcourse a large jar of marmite. any ideas?
ps. this should be alright through post-restrante ?

dont waste postage on marmite, you get in easily in india. Smirnoff is available in india at almost all liquor stores, absolut is available at most upmarket stores so unless you drink a specific brand only, really no point having a parcel sent to yourself

Don't bring anything. You will get every thing you want in all cities and in large towns.

Which place in Tamil Nadu - if big city, then you will find all you are parcelling there, if small city most of the stuff you parcel can get stolen by the postal guys.... Especially the vodka, which is a standing invitation !!!

well things have changed since 1997.... was stuck with three baerrel brandy, and some type of vodka that remained viscous even in thirty three degree heat, and as for marmite not a jot to be found anywhere..... thanks for the info, saves me time and money...... thank god for evolution eh!

Pictures from home. I thought I wouldn't need them, but after a few days in Kolkata it felt really good to get emailed pictures.

Also, while I found no shortage of bookstores, the selection was always kind of unsatisfying. There were no shortage of interesting books about India, but there were times that I was a little tired of looking at India, much less reading about it, and I had a hard time finding fun and fluffy brain candy to read on the train. So I'd probably send some old favorite books, or some light, trashy novels for fun.

Sorry to be a downer on this, but not only is most of the stuff available here but also customs are likely to come down heavily on food stuff and especially alcahol. I don't know but...
