hello i got 6 1/2 weeks in southern india starting feb 27 and i was wondering if i should evan bother with a rain jacket?
also i have thought to bring a light cotton hooded sweatshirt and running shoes for when i am at hillstations.
<otherwise just bring shorts and shortsleeved shirts!>
i am triing to pack light yet don't want to forget anythiong........anyone's comments appreciated

hi chris

you have almost no chance of seeing any rain, if you did, a rain jacket wouldn't help, if it rains it means its time to eat, or have a beer, or a game of pool, it wouldn't last long.

you could always buy an umbrella localy, but as i say, you should not see any rain.

as for a light cotton hooded sweatshirt, i've been in ooty and kodaikanal (the highest hillstations in south india) in january and been comfortable in t-shirts, others may dissagree, it depends on what you are used to, london can get down to -5 in winter, ooty can get down to +5 (+12 when i was there), i guess in canada it can get down to -20.

you know yourself and the kind of tempritures you feel comfortable in, chances are you will be going to hill stations to escape the heat.
