Nick, I was shopping for sunglasses, of course!
Actually, I buy most of my clothes used. Anyhoo, lotus, it seems your best bet would be to bring a cheap pair, and if you don't end up needing them, no harm no foul. That said, a lot of people feel like cheaper sunglasses don't provide as much protection. |

In Delhi during winter, the Fog acts as natural sunglasses.

Take 'em
many uses aside from sun . . . someone mentioned they don't wear them in Delhi because the pollution is so bad, they can't see with them; I say take them, I wear them often TO to shield my eyes from the pollution and dust . . . they help too in that you can look around from behind the glass and not have anyone notice what you're looking at . . . I am from a blue-eyed strain of Northern European people . . . my eyes are sensitive as it is . . . I wear them in the rain . . . taking them or not is not gonna make or break your weight restriction on the plane (I hope) . . . and, as someone above pointed out, the sun does shine in Northern India in January . . .

Hanging out my washing this morning in very clear air with bright sun made me think - mmm perhaps I should be wearing sunglasses! When I come back inside it takes a minute or so for eyes to adjust to slightly darker light..
crvlr- just loved your picture! it is typical winter's day in Delhi!!!

Last two days in Chennai I haven't needed the glasses even for driving. Dull, pouring rain...

Like Darmabum, I too am blue-eyed and squint at the slightest luminescent annoyances. I am never without shades and if I ever am (hows that for a convenient contradiction) I buy them wherever I am at.
That being said, what is the availability of affordable and effective (don't forget sexy and stylish) shades in India? Would it be better to get them there or to bring them with? |

It's tipping it down here. I was hoping for snow...they had snow up north yesterday, and in Scotland. *sigh* In Wales it just rains, and rains.
I wonder how customs would react to a couple of gallons of Welsh rainwater making its way to Aishah? ![]() |

wwusa's storm is moving south...in fact we now have a convergence of three systems that are going to make the whole Ark idea look pretty attractive

Today, the next storm blew through, leaving thunder, lightning, and probably another inch of rain. A third storm is due on Tuesday. Here are some photos .. |

Gosh... Whe it rains here it tends o have similar effects, but that's because the drains are always blocked. Worst i've seen was 7 inches in 24 hours, and most of it fell in three or four hours. You could see the water level rising in the street like a bath filling!
Hope you're getting dry now, WWUSA, and that all our friends in that area are ok. |
