The ladies telling you to stop being such a chicken don't help much either
I'm a total wuss though so wouldn't let them near my eyebrows in the first place.

I've been waxed in a few cities in India... I think it was sugaring. The little "ladies only beauty parlour" up above the bookshop in Paharganj near Hari Rama Hotel is great. Many tourists get waxed there every day... I've gone back a few times.
As for bras, you couldn't go wrong with 3... one nice one, 2 regular comfortable ones. You'll be happy you brought the nice one.

bloody hell, i never realised that the choice of bra was so important!
i think i took 2 of my regular (non-sport) and washed them myself.
obviously i will need to do a lot more preparation for my next trip to meet IM standards

I'm also soooo pleased that guerik explained what 'threading' was. I had visions of hair extensions on your eyebrows . Could've been some new "fashion statement."

I'm sure Nick-H will find 'threading' most interesting, if he didn't know about it already!!

My experience is that they don't get the dirt out of white clothes anyhow.

Lesson nro1: Pack as less white clothes with you as possible. Be prepared for having nothing white to bring back home, and
don't take those whites you wish to wear for many times, especially in public.

Lesson nro2: Don't leave your laundry to be done for the last day of your stay.
I had my white linen top still having the stain and something else after laundry. I complained, and they took it back to rewash. I had to spend one more night at their hotel, waiting for my top. Next day when I got it back, the stain was gone but the white top had gone totally yellow and the fabric fiber was totally spoilt. The top was unusable, and I asked my money back from all my laundry done. They finally agreed to give me back my money, but sorry to say, with that amount you don't get a new white linen top, at least in the West.

Lesson nro3: Always check your each and every cloth after laundry, though they are nicely folded and it would be handy to leave them that way.
I found from the middle of my washed and folded clothes my white panties totally coloured with blue spots. And I had to go back to that same laundry, but they were closed in the middle of the day (his daughter had gotten ill). Next day I went again. He agreed to give me my money back from all the laundry, but I had to give him my coloured panties.

Lesson nro4: Of course no good clothes for Holi. But beware also the day before that - not even your underwear white bra survives when the kids on the street begin to warm up in the eve of Holi.

But from washing to lashing -

Do you get to have your lashes permanently coloured in India, everywhere?

Do you mean dyeing your eyelashes?
I've never seen it offered it India, I get it done beforehand if I can be bothered. Even if it were offered, I'd be hesitant - how could I be sure that it was safe for my eyes?

Yes guerik, that's the word I was looking for, dyeing.
It would be handy to have it - no need for make-up.

Threading isn't so bad! I think waxing is much more painful. Plus they really do shape the eyebrows so well and it makes the hair come out way thinner and less visible.

I brought 1 black sports bra and 1 regular white lycra bra with me. I sweat constantly here and wish I had brought atleast 2 more bras. I think 3 bras are sufficient, no less than that. I've been afraid to send them off to be washed so I hand wash one and hang to dry in my bathroom and wear the other. My white bra is dirty from the sweat and dyes from my salwar kameez and I don't have access to bleach or good laundry soap so I wish I didn't bring it. I prefer my black sports bra as it is much more comfortable and easy to wash and dry. I wish I had brought 2 more of those.

Of course I knew about threading! At least vauguely .

But, on the Exfoliation issue, I would say that I am in the Against camp! Wonder--- if I write to GWB telling him how much against it I am maybe he'll make me a Supreme Court Judge?
