packages by sea
how long will it take my package to arrive back from India to Australia by sea? it said at the POffice about 4-6 weeks, it's been about 10 so far.
is someone wearing my woolen tibetan made jacket somewhere in Mumbai or some other port en route or am i just being impatient? |

Suggest you contact the shipping agent at the destination. S/he should have an exact idea where you shipment is currently.
Normally 4/6 weeks should be more than enough. |

For mail, documents and cheques, yes.
Dunno about packages.. my guess is a package may be tempting for some, hope I am wrong. Lots of packages get sent within India, though. I have never sent a package from India through the post, but have received one from Singapore, in mumbai. It had been opened when I received it, nothing was missing maybe because they were just books. |

Sad to say, but I sent a parcel from Delhi to London by ship and a was waiting around 6 months. However the last crate I sent with two Atlas cycles left Chennai at the end of January and they arrived last week. All in perfect condidtion but we didn't use the post, we used a private shipping type company. As typical of India, I'm sure many people have it in hand and are ensuring your parcel's certain, if not slow, progress!

I have always used the Indian Post to send parcels to myself at home, when my bag has become too heavy. Every package arrived, though some were slow. One was opened by India Customs and re-sealed; all the contents were intact. It takes a long time by seamail!
