OK..... 5 days to go, do i need toilet paper????
Hi Guys
I am on count down and pulling all my bits together. I am coming to Calcutta for 5 weeks volunteer work and 1 week doing the tourist trial of dehli, agra and jaipur. I am planning to pack... 4 cargo trousers 8 t shirts 3 cotton long sleeve tshirts 3 long sleeve cotton shirts Is this enough, as i will be "working" i will need to change twice a day and will probabily keep 2 pair trousers for "work" and 2 pairs for the other times. Is this reasonable or do i need less or more??? Finally do i need to bring toilet paper with me???? Read somewhere else that it was recommended to bring some for the event of the "squits"??? Appreciate your opnions! Cheers Sarah |

Yes Id take some toilet paper, but its readily available.
Clothes you can always get some made up by a tailor using existing ones as a pattern. Mine charges 50/- for shorts/shirt. and the material is v cheap too. India has excellent cotton. |

Take a box of tissues.
Indian toilet paper is ok, Indian tissues are coarse. If you get a cold, you can use them to blow your nose!

Yes, take your favourite brand of toilet paper. Maybe even the moist ones ! Then, as the tp gets used up, you create space in your pack for souvenirs.

I've been in India for 2 months and my essentials are tissue paper, baby wipes (great for those hot days when you need a cool towel for your face, neck and arms) and hand sanitizer gels

Welcome to India! rab PS. Seriously though you should probably take an ultra lightweight fleece jacket I reckon. There is nothing more practical and light than modern fibre clothing. Worn over a vest top or something on a cooler evening it will give you comfort and modesty and be a nice varitation from the combination of clothes you listed. But ignore me I'm a bloke! ![]()

Make sure to pack it in your checked luggage - otherwise, can you just see youself explaining to the security personnel what it is: "It's my portable bidet" (Yuck.)Almost as bad as that poor doofus who had to explain to security what his "penis pump" was - and was mistakenly accused of saying it was a "bomb"! |

Take all that space you were thinking of filling with toilet paper, "wipes" and all that malarky
Fill it with a something you wanted to take but "couldn't fit it in" some books, a change of clothes, camera, teddy...anything that lies in your "comfort zone" If need be take a few wipes, for the time between flight and hotel. Wake up the next day in modern day Cal..........Kalkota and toilet paper is coming at you from all sides, wipes are to be had at the nearest chemist, handspray.........it's all there at a fraction of the price you may be considering! Don't bring toilet paper, it's a serious waste of the limited space your luggage allows! |

About a million years ago, when I left the East Coast to go to graduate school in California, my mother sent me a "Care Package" that included, among other things, several rolls of toilet paper. Where did she think I had moved to - India or something!?
![]() Seriously, don't bother bringing toilet paper from home. Ditto cyber's comments. You can easily pick up a roll when you arrive, to use on the train or in toilets when you're on the road. |
