Hi all
My boyfriend and I are off to Inida 28th February for 3 months and ca'nt wait. Found this site a wealth of information from everything like packing to must do's to trains to food. We start in Delhi and should be flying home from Mumbai, taking in Amritsar, Agra, Jodhpur, Jaisalmer, Udiapur, Jaipur, Calcutta, Darjeeling, Kerala, Goa and Mumbai - but this is completely flexible as we have only literally booked 3 hotels. Basically we've a good idea where we want to go but are going with the flow of it all. We really did want to get Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu, does anyone know if this area was affected by the Tsunami? Any advice about getting there for mid to late April would be good. Also regarding my clothes are linen trousers, ankle skirts and short sleeved shirts appropriate? And my final question, is it possible to go over to Kathmandu from Darjeeling? Anyone have any suggestions on routes, length of time it takes? ie - anyone have any info to share on how they've done it?? Thanks ![]() |

kathmandu from darjeeling... ?? very much possible.. look out for local conducted tour agencies in darjeeling... dont miss pokhra if you go to nepal. dont miss sikkim from darjeeling.
3 months is a long time... you can easily see a few more places... dont miss varanasi, khajuraho, shimla/manali/nainital , konark and puri, and even kanyakumari... i think things will have come back to normal by the time you will get there... |

Kanikumari in my view is only worth the effort if you in Kerala or Southern tamil nadu and have a day to spare. apart from sunset/sunrise, and the feeling of having another cape out of the way, there isn't much to do. But there's nothing like hearing a Kanyakumari coffee seller shout "Coffee, Coffee, Coffee, Coffee, Chai, Chai, Chai" at 6 in the morning.

Good and thanks that you have chosen India.
Kanyakumari was affected, ofcourse, but not that much of damage as was in other place. Already tourists have started visiting Kanyakumari.By the time you reach Kanyakumari, everything would have been back to normal. While visiting Kerala, don't miss Thekkady, Alleppey, Trivandrum & varkala. Your clothes are ok since it would be start of the summer in most places. Remember that rainy starts in Kerala around 2nd-3rd week of May. |
