Moving luggage from Pondi to Delhi

Hello, all.

I am currently staying at Pondicherry University until the end of the semester (late november). After that I have plans to travel around India - mostly northern India - for about a month. My departing flight will leave from Delhi on December 15th, so my intention is to end my travels in Delhi.

The problem is that I do not wish to do my traveling with a lot of luggage, as I am planning to first go to Goa and other places before arriving in Delhi. Thus, I was wondering if there is any way of sending some of my luggage to Delhi for safekeeping from Pondicherry (or perhaps Chennai) until I arrive there myself, a few weeks later. Does anyone have any clue if sending stuff like this is at all possible? I would also appreciate alternate ideas, if there are any, for coping with the problem of traveling with a lot of luggage.

If its not highly valuable stuff, I guess you could send it using Indian Railways Cargo, (You will need to collect it at the Delhi Cargo Hold unlike couriers, works well in this case I suppose), I am not aware of whether any charges are levied if its not collected after a period of time.

Hoping for better options from more experienced IMikers..

Thanks for the tip. I will try to see if it would be possible to send luggage this way. I wouldn't imagine it to be impossible (nor too expensive) to send luggage within India and then pick it up at the destination post office (or something like that anyways) a month or so later on.
