Taking a towel

Taking a towel was the most useless thing I took, soon got rid of it for a sarong/lungi.

most useless thing i took? lipstick...and a sleeping bag to Thailand...
The most usefull was a whistle for my (then) six year old daughter to wear. She never really had occasion to use it seriously...but it did heaps for my peace of mind!...Oh...and some blue tac!

teehee...mind you, when the chair so galantly given up to me by some ten year old kid and his mates broke under me as i sat down outside the phone booth...(i had hobbled up with badly sprained ankle) ..duct tape would have come in handy...for the kids too....they burst into hysterical laughter...i had to giggle too..it WAS funny..Jeez..they were still laughing the next day when i hobbled past again..but hello's were always exchanged thereafter accompanied by huge grins!!

Yeah, we took them too.

And then forget about giving them to the kids.

I just admit, I'm a Duct Tape junkie too. I once saw a suitcase at the airport ripped with clothing hanging out of it and decided then that I would always carry around a bit of duct tape. I wrap about 6 feet around a piece of cardboard and do not carry that huge roll around. We've also used it to repair tent poles as well as tent rips

Hah!

I gave mine away before coming here, and have often wondered if I should have kept it.

Given that it would have given me nothing better than a Lat and Long readout here, I guess not.

Though I guess it would have served as compass in the car, and I could have used it to roughly follow my track back home.

Did you try to use yours in the city? Or was this a trekking thing?
