I've been trying to imagine snorkling in Goa & all I can come up with is maybe someone brought their gear & were wearing it on the beach! Or it was a prescription mask & they just use it to see while splashing around (I've done that since I can't see without my glasses--I wore my prescription glasses into the ocean in Florida & was promptly knocked over by a wave & lost them forever ) Or to keep water out of their eyes or thought they were in Hawaii but got on the wrong plane

Blow dryer and curling iron. Even though I had a converter, there always seemed to be sparks so I just gave up.

In my country the wages of the personnel are included in the price of the product, so tipping isn't customary, although we tip occasionally. That is a tip for those of you that travel to my country

Thank you so happy to hear you say that. I do not feel good about poisoning my body to fight off bugs. I have heard about takig MMS a natural mineral supplement and eating lots of garlic helps..

Nope, no chance of that or malaria would be wiped out in India already!

If people wish to play Russian Roulette with mosquitos, that's their business, but please don't encourage this practice amongst others. Malaria can kill. In 2003, there were 990 deaths in India from Malaria. (Sources: Global Data: WHO, Revised Global Burden of Disease Estimates, as reported in the World Health Report 2004). To suggest to others that medicine designed to stop you dying is a "Most useless item to carry around in India" is a criminal case of mis-information.

Point taken, and very true... but there was one repellent that, for me, was certainly a Most Useless Item; it was a complete failure!

I got bitten a lot that trip, and subsequently went back to DEET-based stuff.

That is absolutely wrong, neither of those things makes the slightest difference.

If you don't feel good about "poisoning your body" look up what malaria and Dengue Fever can do to your body. Not that there is a preventative for Dengue, but you can prevent bites by using effective repellents including DEET based products.
