Cool mosquito net

I am packing for my trip and I am going to try to go with a 40L pack--it's tight, but I'd rather travel light than carry around a burden the whole time I'm there. My question is whether it is absolutely necessary that I bring a mosquito net if I'm going from Sept 22nd to Nov 22nd. Are there lots of mosquitos during this period? Do people use mosquito nets in hotel rooms? I do not plan to trek and may do a camel or jungle safari, but it will not be for an extended period of time. I will mostly be in Rajastan and Uttar Pradesh--perhaps West Bengali....if I leave the mosquito net out, it actually frees up a ton of space in my bag! What would all you experienced travellors do?

Thanks in advance,

Self...

The first 2 questions depend on where you are but guessing from what you wrote I would say yes. The 3rd baffles me since I don't know where else you would use the net other than where your bed and probably your room is (excepting summer)..

I should rephrase the third question--is it necessary to use a mosquito net if you are staying in hotel rooms (as opposed to huts on beaches, tents..that sort of thing...)

My experience is that mosquitos check in faster than the paying occupants..
