Money Tips?

Visiting for 7 weeks, what is the best way to deal/carry/exchange money? Visa debit card? travellers cheques? Cash?

Having started my India travels in the early 80's, when cash could get you a better rate, I still take TC's and cash. On my six month trip last year, didn't take an ATM card, though I hear they're handy and machines are becoming more prevalent. Most metropolitan areas should have ATM machines, though cash/TC's might come in handy for times when a machine isn't nearby.

I would advice on bit of cash and ATM/Debit/credit card...

Unless and until you plan to go trekking or in some remote location ATMs would be readily available...

And carry some cash as well...

ATM's can nowdays be found everywhere in india. If visiting for 7 weeks, try opening a bank a/c so they provide you an ATM card free of cost. Check the terms N conditions if using the ATM card in any other bank
