Varies with the bank in question. 20k is the least that I know of, per day. Can be withdrawn at one go.

I meant in one shot, but 20 000 seems enough.

Thanks

I could be wrong, but isn't it your bank that sets the maximum withdrawl limit? For what it's worth, I withdrew 30,000Rs from a Citibank ATM in Mumbai.

I thought the same. I can remember the "man at the bank" (what is the name in English????) asked me if I wanted my account to be set to allow 5000 Nkr or 10.000 Nkr.

You will, i guess, be limited by your bank's home limit.

UK banks will not give more than £200 a day from UK ATMs --- so I doubt that they will give more from a foreign ATM. That, I would suspect, is the source of your Rs15,000 limit.

'Cashier'? Norway? But man at the bank will do just fine

The first question is which bank are you talking about, next we can list our individual bank limit.

HSBC - 25 K
ICICI -
UTI -
HDFC -
SBI -
CANARA -

And the list goes on othe Imers can complete this..

Thanks Nick!

I think it depends on two things... Your bank and the ATM. I have gotten more than £200 from an ATM in UK. I have a limit on about £400 from my bank in Norway. In India I don't know as I never needed that much monney... :-D I think the bank use this limit to avoid scams. If you use your card too heavily in shops too, they will close it! (Did it in London last year... :-))

ICICI ATMs at the bank locations let you take out 25K ....but my bank Bank of America lets me withdraw only $200 at a time...i'm sure that your bank has the limit too...

also make sure that you let your bank know of your travel and you will be using your ATM CARD abroad as some banks tend to block international ATM transaction if they get suspicious or if its too frequent.

Dependent on the different factors pointed out above, the "lowest" maximum daily amount among the different banks in India at present is Rs. 10000, and the "highest" max is Rs. 50000. Indian banks don't have a transaction limit for their customers - u can take out your daily limit in one shot.
It might be different for arrangements with banks outside India - best is to check with your own bank at home.
