maximum packing in minimum space

Going on my 3rd round and promised to my self that this time I am really going to light-pack my bag.

I really tried to figure out different combination and sizes of bags, not very succesfuly

Your point of view and experience are needed.

Going on mid Aug. till mid Oct. the route still roughly planed, is:
Uttar anchel- VOF trek and around
MP for 3-4 weeks
Varansi
Maybe Orcha for desert before heading to Delhi and Home sweet home..

Boots or hiking sandels? or both?
1 fleece top and light trekking-dry fast trousers?
Rain coat? which kind do you find best?
I want a MAXIMUM 45l BAGPACK to limit me (I have a 55L but you know how quickly it is getting heavy just because you have extra space)- but I will probably shop around and I'm thinking of a sulotion for the shopping, which will probably wont fit the bag... there is always the option to shipp it home but how available is it from MP?

Thanks for your good will.

Malai

Both I would say. I've got Hanwags for trekking and Teeva's for sandals

1 fleece top and light trekking-dry fast trousers?

The zip-off variety is fine
Rain coat? which kind do you find best?

Basically none, even the most expensive goretex ones make you sweaty and or wet. Take an umbrella, a poncho or if you have to buy one: a K-way.

Buy a sturdy 200 Rs bag that you can lock and leave the stuff you don't need on the trek at a trusted place. Stuff it with the things you buy when you go home. be aware that lots of ailrines have very unfavourable luggage rules nowadyas (1 bag, max 23 kilograms).

If necessary buy an extralarge multicolored (faint white red blue) third olrld bag. Stuff your two backpacks in it and fortify it with gaffer tape to get it within the airline dimension limits.

My best advice: take your pack for a decent walk around your hometown before leaving. This will enlighten you as to what you really don't need.

Shipping your stuff home should be doable from any tiny post office btw.

Good one!!

I like your creative advice

It is really amazing how little we need to be happy, we tend to forget it here at home...

Hm yes. Having my pack break on me en route on an extended and cumbersome train trip in the middle of the pouring rain gave some surprising and immediate resolve as to all the stuff I'd been lugging around for no good reason. I think I left most of the superfluous stuff at some hotel desk for further distribution, was appreciated.
