Namaste,
Sure that this has been asked and answered a 1000 times ,but how is it possible to get your leatherman to India (Mumbia or Delhi)? Should I pack it in my luggage that goes under the plane? Fed/ex to Local hotel? I know that I can't have it in my carry-on. Any help is appreciated Also what quality AAA or AA batteries are avaible, is price a factor I like to use akcline (spelling wrong) can I carry a lot of them with luggage that goes underneath. Thanks for any help as always, -gregor |

Your Leatherman should be fine in your checked bagage. Don't try to take it in your carry on bag or you'll be doing a lot of explaining to the authorities.
For batteries, have you considered a couple sets of nickel metal hydride (NiMH)rechargeable cells and a small charger? Might be less hassle if you're planning on going through a lot of them and will be near a power outlet. W22 |

I second the rechargeable battery suggestion. I took my battery charger and 2-prong converter, plugged it in at night and always had a full charge by morning, even with occasional power cuts.
I did buy a set of batteries there (Duracell I think) for backup and they lasted just as well as ones bought at home, which is to say only a few hours in a high-drain device. |

I guess I can really call myself lucky for getting it back at home... But actually I then lost it on my following up trip. It's now in the possession of a auto driver in Bangalore ![]() Ah I just remember that I have to get a replacement before my next trip... |

Duracell Ultra, Rs60 for pack of two in Chennai this week.
I guess that's expensive: I used to pay GBP1 for a pack of four, London street-market price. Rechargables is a much better option. And keep anything sharp in the check-in luggage. I could be argued that it wold be easier to kill someone with a sharp pencil than with a Leatherman toolkit --- but the security guys won't be interested in having that conversation! |
