Himachal in April/early May

I'm in India for 6 weeks from April the 3rd. Spending the first week in Delhi before moving on to Amritsar then up into Himachal - Up to Dalhousie/Chamba, down to Shimla. Was considering then going out to Dehra Dun and the corbett tiger reserve before heading back to Delhi to catch our onward flight to Vietnam. Will be in india 6 weeks in total.

Firstly how cold will it be in Himachal around this time of year? I'm packing two jumpers, a light rain mack and a pair of combats for this (shirt and cotton trousers for delhi)

Secondly, does this route sound sensible for 6 weeks. Theres loads I want to see but I'm paranoid about trying to cram too much in and wearing myself out. I'm away for 5 months in total! I'd appreciate it if anyone has an opinion on this.

For 6 weeks Chamba is more than enough. I could spend a life-time exploring that place. It will be cold with little showers sometimes. All around pretty nice with lots of landscape to enjoy. Mind u there is a huge contrast between Delhi & Chamba. Delhi would start to be feeling hot (lots of fluids), Amritsar couple of days (lots to see there but doesn't do justice, need to be there for atleast a week or more to really see it). Dehra Dun is also a cool idea & if there check out the premises of Doon school. It's lovely there.
Personally although I don't find any issues but there are 2-3 things perhaps you should look at :-
1. Changing places quite frequently so most of the time would be spent on getting tickets/buses as well as places to stay & all of that. Would that be wise?
2. Interaction with people, faces & knowing the place atleast somewhat.
India is not a place for jet-speeding. Of course it's upto u what u want but personally know it takes atleast 2-3 days to be friends with any place. To get one's bearings as well as become accustomed to things around u. Perhaps just couple of places would be a more saner choice with chamba surely somewhere there

From mid-April onwards the areas you plan to visit in H.P. will be pleasant(Dalhousie) to warm(Chamba, Shimla).

Your route is quite okay for 6 weeks - First week in Delhi, the next two weeks in Amritsar,Chamba and Dalhousie; week four and a half at Shimla and surroundings; balance at Dehradun/Mussoorie/Corbett.

Have a nice trip !
